Leakage of radioactive material in Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Fukushima in Japan damaged by an earthquake and tsunami last month could not be overcome completely.
This was conveyed by Minister of Industry of Japan Banri Kaieda after a brief visit to the Fukushima nuclear power plant Saturday (9 / 4).
He became the first high-ranking officials who visited the nuclear power plant.
Kaieda said it would conduct a thorough review of nuclear plant security.
Amid fears in the region due to leakage of radioactive material, the Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto promised his government would take many lessons from this crisis.
Hidehiko Nishiyama, deputy director of Japan's nuclear energy watchdog said the loss of power or energy in nuclear power plants is a very serious problem.
"After this incident we must examine the security aspects and kesemalatan from all sides," Nishiyama said, as reported by the BBC.
All nuclear power plants in Japan from now on should have two backup generators, either as nuclear power plants in operation or not.
In addition to damaging nuclear power plant, a great earthquake and tsunami last month killed nearly 13,000 people while another 15,000 people remain missing.
