World News - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States (U.S.) Hillary Clinton urged Thailand and Cambodia to exercise restraint and open steps to ease tensions.

Clinton said that the U.S. has a direct relationship with the Cambodian and Thailand in the hope that both countries to end the violence.
Previous 12 soldiers on both sides reportedly killed during a shootout that began last weekend.

"The U.S. government is very concerned about the violence between the troops on the border of Thailand and Cambodia," Clinton's statement as quoted by AFP on Tuesday (04/26/2011).

"We urge both sides to refrain from provocative actions and immediately take necessary measures to reduce tensions and avoid a new conflict," continued Clinton's statement. Himself had deplored the drop victim in this incident.

Former First Lady at the same time the U.S. is also supporting the efforts made by Indonesia as Chairman of the Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN), to mediate peace between the two countries.

"We support Indonesia's efforts in his role as Chairman of the ASEAN to cooperate with both countries, in seeking the solution of this problem," said Clinton.

As previously known to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Marty Natalegawa planned to travel to Thailand and Cambodia on Monday. But this visit was canceled.
