LIMA, Peru (World News) -- The attorney for Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot says his client will likely plead guilty to killing a young Peruvian woman but the decision has not been made yet.
Attorney Jose Luis Jimenez told The Associated Press Friday that there's a 70 percent change the 24-year-old Dutchman will plead guilty, which could help him get a reduced sentence. Van der Sloot's trial has begun Friday morning.
Van der Sloot is accused of killing Stephany Flores in May 2010 in a Lima hotel room. He was also the prime suspect in the disappearance of U.S. citizen Natalee Holloway on the island of Aruba in 2005. Her body was never found, and the case remains unsolved.
Jimenez told the World News "there's nothing certain" about van der Sloot's plea.
