Real Sociedad produced an incredible fightback in the final two minutes to defeat Malaga 3-2 at Anoeta.
• La Liga: Big wins for Barca and Real
In a pulsating match, it was the hosts who took the lead after just ten minutes through Martin Demichelis' own goal. However, the visitors appeared to be heading for a third straight victory when Salomon Rondon levelled midway through the first half and then Seba Fernandez pounced on an error by Mikel Gonzalez to put Malaga 2-1 in front.
A Carlos Vela won der goal brought Sociedad back into the match in the 89th minute and the drama was not over there as two minutes later Diego Ifran slalomed through the Malaga defence to prod home the winner.
La Real's second consecutive 3-2 win lifts them up to 12th whilst Malaga remain three points behind Levante in fifth.
Atletico Madrid bounced back from last week's derby defeat to beat Rayo Vallecano 3-1.
The hosts were hammered 4-1 by league leaders and city rivals Real Madrid last time out, but took their frustrations out on Rayo thanks to goals from Gabi, Radamel Falcao and Eduardo Salvio.
A 3-0 scoreline would have been harsh on Rayo and they got the goal their efforts deserved soon after, as Piti turned Felipe Luis and fired a shot across goal which the unfortunate Gabi could only direct into his own net.
Osasuna continued their great run of form thanks to Javad Nekounam's fantastic 92nd-winner which secured a 2-1 victory over luck less Real Betis.
Miguel Flano had given the hosts the lead in the first half after shocking marking from the visitors had allowed him a free header from Alvaro Cejudo's corner.
However Betis were by far they better side after the break. Osasuna keeper Andres Fernandez made great saves to deny Roque Santa Cruz and Ruben Castro while Lolo cleared a goalbound effort off the line.
The visitors did eventually level when Castro stayed just onside the turn in Jonathan Perreira's cross with 10 minutes remaining but Nekounam grabbed the winner at the death.
Real Mallorca and Athletic Bilbao shared the points in an ill-tempered 1-1 clash at the Estadio Son Moix.
Mallorca striker Alvaro Gimenez got the home side off to a flying start when he scored the opening goal in the second minute before Fernando Amorebieta levelled for Athletic on the stroke of half-time.
The second half descended into a scrappy affair and there were 11 yel low cards in total during the match, seven to Mallorca and four to Athletic, as both sides pushed for much-needed points.
Granada's surge away from the relegation zone continued as a scrappy goal from Odion Ighalo proved enough to beat rock-bottom Real Zaragoza 1-0.
Nigerian striker Ighalo scored on the stroke of half-time as Granada made it 10 points from a possible 12 to move up to 12th place in the table. Zaragoza have now failed to win any of their last seven league games to drift to three points from safety.
