Melbourne Victory's tumultuous A-League season has taken another turn with star player Harry Kewell reportedly splitting with his long-time agent Bernie Mandic.

Kewell, it is reported in the Australian newspaper, on Thursday sacked the architect of the many club contracts in his career including his controversial move to Liverpool from Leeds. The shock move follows a week of unrest at the Victory, who have sacked football director Francis Awaritefe while a cloud remains over the future of coach Mehmet Durakovic.

The Victory, meanwhile, confirmed Kewell had appointed his own personal coach, former Argent ine World Cup star Abel Balbo, to work one-on-one with him and help him stay on track for the 2014 World Cup. That news couldn't have been timed worse for Durakovic, who is already under heavy fire from fans over the Victory's indifferent start to the A-League season.

Balbo, a 37-time international, has been linked with a variety of jobs in Australia, including the Victory football director's role made vacant with Awaritefe's sacking this week. It adds further intrigue as to whether the Victory board will stick with Durakovic despite the club's recent form, or bow to pressure and part ways with him.

Kewell remains in doubt for the Victory's clash with Gold Coast United at AAMI Park on Sunday as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
