Is it just me or are the new unofficial housewives on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills trying too hard?

To refresh your memory, Bravo announced that all the official housewives would be back for this season and that they will be joined by unofficial housewives or as it called them, “friends.” My theory? Most Housewives fans know that Bravo likes to keep its options open – not unlike Kelsey Grammer. So, it will often shoot with several women who may or may not become official cast members after the network sees what they add to the mix. I can usually spot them when I begin asking, “Why is this random woman always getting in the mix?” So, this season the network found that Brandi and Dana were good TV and made them semi-official cast members. That’s my theory anyway.

On Monday’s episode, Dana Wilkey seemed to be doing her best to convince us she’s fabulous. Kyle Richards and Taylor Armstrong went to her house to have lunch and she opened the door in a wedding dress and tiara. Her jewelry fitting appointment happened to go long, uh huh. On a table near the door’s entrance, she had headshots of her son. Later, she joined the girls at the table and told them how smart he is – he hasn’t started school yet, but he speaks Thai and he’s beginning “encyclopedia learning.” I didn’t even know such a thing existed.

For the pièce de résistance, she arrived later to a barbeque that Adrienne Maloof was throwing wearing $ 25,000 sunglasses and she wasn’t shy about telling others how much they cost over and over again. I loved how Camille Grammer, who was last season’s show off, checked Dana during her interview.

We met Brandi Glanville last week and she seems to be the kind of gal with very little filter between her thoughts and her mouth. I don’t blame her for being defensive about what the women thought of her at the barbeque. They unabashedly talked about her at Kyle’s charity event last week and didn’t try to hide it at all.

On the other hand, she did allow her son to go uncorrected at Adrienne's place after he got naked and peed on the grass. She also made a bad joke about Dana’s fiancé cheating on her while he’s away on business trips. And then she used the word "c—k" instead of the more proper “penis” at an event in which children (and very uptight women) were present.

So, which new Housewives’ friend do you like better? Tell us why in the comments section below.
