He said, "the free flow of information" is sometimes a problem. Cameron has called the manager of two social media sites as well as Research In Motion, BlackBerry manufacturer, to attend a meeting that will discuss their role in outbreaks of violence.

"Everyone who watched the horrific actions that will be surprised by how they are organized through social media," Cameron said on Thursday (08/11/2011), in a speech in Parliament as quoted by CNN.com, Friday. "Free flow of information can be used for good. However, it can also be used for evil. When people use social media for violence, we must stop them."

Cameron said, government officials are working with authorities "to study whether the right to stop people who communicate through websites and such services when we know they were planning violence, chaos, and crime".

Cameron told the MPs said, already more than 1,200 people have been arrested across the UK during the four days of riots related to it, Saturday night to Tuesday night. An estimate states, retailers in the UK suffer a total loss of more than 161 million U.S. dollars (USD 1.3 trillion) in the form of stolen goods and property damage during the riots.

Cameron, a conservative, seems to have the support for firm action was. Support even came from members of the opposition Labor Party. "Freedom of speech is central to our democracy, but public safety and security, too," said Ivan Lewis, the shadow secretary of the field of culture at the House of Commons, as quoted in The Guardian. "We support the government's decision to review whether the necessary steps to prevent abuse of social media by those who organize and participate in criminal activity."

UK Home Secretary Theresa Mey has requested a meeting with three firms in the coming weeks, said a number of British media.

Many British rioters reportedly been using BlackBerry Messenger, an instant messaging tool that is private and free, to regulate their actions. A recent survey in Britain found that 37 percent of the country's youth prefer BlackBerry smartphones than the others.

Twitter and Facebook have been used too though these sites have also been used to organize cleanup efforts and calls for peace in the midst of riots that began in the poor areas of Tottenham, north London, last Saturday, after police shot dead a man suspected members of criminal gangs.

Representatives of Facebook and Twitter say they are happy to meet with the British Government. However, both may be objected to if it should be censored or closed in the UK. Twitter has said it has no intention to block the account or delete postings. While Facebook has said publicly that the company has closed a page that explicitly incite violence.

Blog Research In Motion on the BlackBerry has been hacked on Tuesday. Hacking took place after the smartphone maker of Canada's claim, the company will cooperate with the London police for help in identifying the vandals who may have used a BlackBerry to plan chaos.

In another development, the proponents of Open-Web and freedom of speech immediately raised objections to the plan is Cameron.
