Weapons Drug Cartels Mexico from the U.S.

World News - U.S. congressional report says about 70% of firearms used in acts of criminality in Mexico during 2009 and 2010 came from the United States.

Most of these guns used by Mexican drug cartels.

With these findings, the senators who collect this data urged that there is tightening regulations to prevent the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico.

The report titled, 'Preventing Smuggling Firearms U.S. to Mexico' was written by Democratic Senator, Dianne Feinstein, of California, Charles Schumer (New York) and Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island).

They said the U.S. weapons contributed to the dangerous escalation of violence in Mexico.

Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Kenneth Melson said of the 29 284 firearms found at crime scenes, 20,504 came from the United States.

The senators also accused the U.S. Congress to be seen "near death''when Mexican drug cartels smuggle firearms from the U.S..

This report came out a day after Mexican President Felipe Calderon accused the U.S. arms industry caused thousands of people dead in Mexico.

"Why, is still ongoing business weapon?" Calderon asked.

"I say openly, this is because the benefits the U.S. arms industry," he added.

Calderon has repeatedly requested the U.S. to implement the Act more stringent firearms.
