World News - A PC manufacturer from the United States cast a lawsuit against Google over the use of the name Chromebook Chrome for OS-based notebook that was introduced last May.
The company, Isys Technologies, sue Google and their partners such as Acer, Amazon, Samsung and Best Buy to no longer market the product as well cancel the launch of the plan on 15 June.
Isys Technologies claims patent breach Chromebook name Chromium Modular PC Computer theirs, which will support open-source version of Chrome the OS. Similarly, as reported by PC Pro, on Friday (06/10/2011).
"We do not want to preclude any party from creating new products and market, unless they violate our intellectual property," said President and CEO of Isys Technologies Jason Sullivan.
"Although we have a sincere intention to resolve this matter between ourselves, it is clear that both sides have been deadlocked. So, it seems there is no alternative but to ask for legal assistance to protect our associated ChromiumPC," he continued.
Furthermore, Todd Zenger Isys attorneys initially claimed that Google intends to use a different name for his notebook, which is Speedbook. But the plan failed to materialize following the other Speedbook brand presence at the end of 2010.
According to Zenger, Isys has registered the patent for the name ChromiumPC in June 2010 and received interim approval, four months later, however Google patent registration Isys hold until they finally launched Chromebook, last month.
"Google is just the same forced Isys no longer use the name Chromium PC and forget about their patent application. This is obviously very detrimental to Isys," snapped Zenger.
