World News - France will continue to hold Middle East conference in spite of the United States and Israel objected.
"I felt that our initiative is a step forward in the peace process," said Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, Tuesday, (7 / 6), after meetings with Israel and the United States.
"I think there will be positive developments in the coming weeks," said Juppe told reporters at UN headquarters.
France proposed an international conference on Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Paris in July. Direct negotiations stalled Israeli-Palestinian since September after Israel refused to stop building settlements in the occupied territories.
Juppe said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to support the French proposal and Israel requested more information about the shape of the negotiations it.
"The Israeli government will give the answer in the next few days," he said.
