World News - Ban Ki-Moon was officially re-elected as Secretary General of the United Nations and will continue his position starting January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2016.

Ban as secretary-general position for the second period it was decided in the General Assembly (MU) MU UN led by President Joseph Deiss, the United Nations at UN Headquarters, New York, on Tuesday (21 / 6) local time.

Assembly of 192 nations - including Indonesia - had agreed to appoint Ban as UN Secretary-General to continue the task after the member countries at a hearing Tuesday to agree passed a resolution extending the duty tires starting January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2016.

Appointment by the General Assembly is a follow-up recommendations made by the UN Security Council, which last week approved the nomination of Ban as Secretary General for the second period. Term of office of UN Secretary-General can only be extended once.

Ban, 63, for the first time running the office as UN chief on January 1, 2007. Former Foreign Minister of South Korea was to replace Kofi Annan and is the eighth person who served as UN secretary general. Ban's first period of office will expire on December 31, 2011.

In the UN Secretary-General nomination period January 2012-December 2016, Mr. Ban appeared as a single candidate.
