PARIS (World News) - The Canadian suspected of dismembering a man in Montreal and mailing his body parts to political parties may be in France, where police are conducting a search, a police source told World News on Friday.

French authorities were informed on Thursday that Luka Rocco Magnotta had bought a plane ticket for Paris, the source said.

A French police spokesman said they had been alerted to an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol on Thursday, but would not comment further.

Magnotta, 29, a native of the Toronto area who was living in Montreal, has a bizarre Internet trail as an alleged kitten-killer and bisexual porn star.

Montreal police say they believe he is out of the country, but have not confirmed a report in Montreal newspaper Journal de Montreal that he flew to Europe on Saturday under a fake name. The police source said he had spent time in France in 2010.

Canadian authorities are trying to determine whether he was responsible for a video of a beheading posted on an Internet site that spe cializes in gore.

A search of Magnotta's Montreal apartment on Wednesday revealed a bloody mattress and pools of blood on the floor and in the refrigerator.

Montreal police said a janitor found a torso with no head or limbs in a suitcase in an alley behind Magnotta's building.

Authorities believe that a decomposing foot mailed to the headquarters of the governing Conservative Party in Ottawa on Tuesday and a hand found inside a package at a postal depot are parts of the same person.
