Adelaide United will renew their rivalry with Bunyodkor after being drawn to face the Uzbek champions in the AFC Champions League quarter-finals.
John Kosmina's team, officially under the guidance of assistant coach Luciano
Trani, overcame Bunyodkor on the way to the 2008 final, which they lost to
J.League giants Gamba Osaka.
The teams also met in this season's group stages with Adelaide winning 2-1 in
Tashkent before a goalless draw in South Australia.
The A-League outfit will host the first leg at Hindmarsh Stadium on September
19 with the return slated for the first week in October.
If the Reds are victorious, they will face the winner of the Ulsan-Al Hilal
last-eight clash in the semi-finals.
On the other side of the draw, big-spending Chinese Super League champions
Guangzhou Evergrande face two-time Asian title-winners Al Ittihad.
Awaiting the winner in the last four are Sepahan or Al Ahli.
Quarter-final draw:
Al Ittihad v Guangzhou Evergrande
Sepahan v Al Ahli
Adelaide United v Bunyodkor
Ulsan Hyundai v Al Hilal
