Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi would be happy if former team-mate Vincenzo Montella were to return to the Stadio Olimpico hotseat.
• Roma target Montella as new boss
Montella, 37, managed the Giallorossi on an interim basis last year before being released at the end of the 2010-11 season when the club's new owners decided to appoint Luis Enrique.
The former Italy striker then took the reins at Catania last summer and was one of a handful of Serie A coaches to survive the entire campaign, leading the Sicilian club to a respectable 11th-placed finish.
His success with Catania has led to conjecture that a return to Roma, where he spent a decade as a player before retiring, is now on the cards after Enrique's spell in the Italian capital came to an end earlier this month.
And De Rossi believes the appointment of a man he played alongside for club and country would be a good one for Roma.
"I would be delighted if Montella returned,'' De Rossi said. "I always thought he was a good coach and his experience in Catania has confirmed that.''
