Palacio, 30, has been heavily linked to the Nerazzurri over the past few days and on Tuesday, the deal was finally confirmed by Genoa president Enrico Preziosi.

"A lot of players have asked to leave. Inter have been following him for two years, so there was an opportunity for both clubs. There is an agreement and also a handshake. We could also discuss a possible swap deal, we'll just have to wait and see," Preziosi told Sky Italia.

Preziosi also confirmed that Ciro Immobile would arrive from Pescara this summer, given that he is co-owned with Juventus. "He will definitely arrive," the chief added.

Regarding much sought after striker Mattia Destro, Preziosi confirmed that the situation was not so clear-cut. With many clubs sniffing around, Genoa are keen to resolve the striker's future with Siena.

"His situation is not clear," he added. "There is the co-ownership to resolve with Siena first. I paid ¬5m for Destro. The transfer whispers confirm his value, but we have to see what is best."
