Pierre Lechantre has been named as the new coach of Senegal.
The Senegalese football federation confirmed the appointment of the
62-year-old former Cameroon coach, although the terms of the contract have yet
to be revealed.
Lechantre - who led the Indomitable Lions to African Nations Cup glory in 2000
and has also coached Mali - was chosen ahead of Bruno Metsu, who steered
Senegal to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002.
The nation has been without a coach since Amara Traore lost his job in February
after a poor performance at the African Nations Cup.
Senegal booked their place in the Olympics on Monday, beating Oman 2-0 in a
play-off to clinch the last place at London 2012.
