Harry Redknapp is confident Tottenham can keep hold of their top players even if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Tottenham fended off multiple bids from Chelsea for playmaker Luka Modric last summer, while Gareth Bale is reportedly a target for Spanish giants Barcelona.
Redknapp's side are currently fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Newcastle in the race for Champions League places.
But even if Tottenham finish fourth, they risk missing out on UEFA's elite competition next season - if Chelsea win the Champions League but fail to finis h in the top four, they will be offered the chance to defend their title at the expense of the team that finishes fourth.
A poor run of form has seen Tottenham win just one of their last nine Premier League matches, but regardless of where Spurs finish in the table, Redknapp is confident they will not be forced to sell the likes of Bale and Modric in the summer.
"When they came to the club Tottenham weren't in the Champions League and nowhere near getting in the Champions League," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
"I laugh when I hear stories, 'Wolves have got relegated, people are going to come in and take all their players' - if they were so good they wouldn't have got relegated. At the end of the day it's down to the players - when things are going well we give them all the credit. If we didn't have a bad run we'd have qualified for the Champions League.
"They play for Tottenham, they are at a great club, there's no reason they should suddenly want to leave. We are hopefully going to make the Champions League this year but if we don't then next year we will try again, that's all you can do.
"You don't suddenly lose your players. There's not too many clubs they could go to better than Tottenham. I don't see too many of them wanting to leave. You are talking about a couple of exceptional players in Gareth Bale and Luka Modric but they have both signed long-term contracts. Gareth has had a fantastic time for a young player at Tottenham and he needs to stay here for a few more years yet."
He added: "I don't make those decisions, the chairman runs the football club in terms of finance and everything else, but he is not looking to sell the best players. We are not looking to sell, we are a club looking to build and we are building - we have come a million miles in the last three or four years."
