Murphy, 35, is set to become a free agent in the summer as his current deal expires, but the former Crewe and Liverpool man is confident of agreeing new terms to prolong his stay at Craven Cottage.

"I have spoken to the club a couple of times but there's no great urgency with me because I'm happy and they are happy with me," Murphy told The Sun. "I'd be surprised if it didn't get sorted.

Murphy was tipped to struggle to hold down a first-team place when Martin Jol, who sold him to Fulham from Spurs in 2007, took charge of the club last summer - but the veteran has proved his worth with 30 Premier League starts this term.
