Newly engaged Steven Tyler took Oprah Winfrey to some dark places on Sunday’s two-hour premiere episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter on OWN.

The former queen of daytime returned to talk television with her new traveling interview show. Her first guest, the American Idol judge and Aerosmith front man, took the host to his New Hampshire home on Lake Sunapee. He opened up about his drug addictions, jealousy among his band members, and admitted to having several life regrets.

There was a moment when Oprah confronted Steven over saying that the births of each of his four children changed him. She points out that he continued his rock and roll lifestyle after his children were born.

“You are [correct],” Steven said after Oprah asked him about the contradiction. “I had them, but obviously the drugs got in the way, the lifestyle got in the way.”

Then Steven began to elaborate on how special the sex with his children’s mothers was that he claimed created each of his four children – Liv with model Bebe Buell, Mia with model Cyrinda Foxe, and then Chelsea and Taj with his last wife, clothing designer Teresa Barrick.

“Don’t get me wrong, every one of those girls I love them dearly. When we made love, we cried and we had a kid,” he explains. “It was that heavy. It was magic.”

“It never happens like that all the time,” he continues. “Never cry as you climax. And it’s something I never told anybody. It was just those four times.”

I, for one, would’ve been OK if he just kept that to himself. Well, at least his new fiance knows what to look out for. Watch the excerpt below.

Oprah’s Next Chapter airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on OWN. Future episodes will be one-hour and include a home sleepover with Paula Deen, a tour of Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas, and a visit to Haiti with Sean Penn.

The new interview series represents Oprah’s latest move to improve the ratings at OWN and finds her putting a twist on the brand that attracted millions of viewers to her syndicated talk show for more than two decades. OWN celebrated its one-year anniversary on Sunday.
