When The Finder premieres Thursday, the Bones spinoff will feature a heavy dose of John Fogerty.

The famed singer-songwriter not only penned the theme song -- called "Swamp Water" -- for the series, which Geoff Stults as an eccentric war veteran who can find anything, but Fogerty will also guest star in the episode and perform a new version of "Fortunate Son," The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The episode, which marks Fogerty's acting debut, will see Stults' Walter Sherman recovers one of the former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman's beloved guitars and help a teenage boy locate his missing father, a military war hero whose plane disappeared after embarking on an undisclosed mission.

"John acts in the first episode [and] plays one of his biggest most beloved hits -- one of my favorite songs of all time," series creator Hart Hanson said. "Hint: my production company would have been called Fortunate Son Productions but somebody beat me to it."

"Then, on top of all that, somehow we dragooned John to write The Finder opening credits theme," he added. "When he sang and played on The Finder set, we all stood in awed silence and grinned at each other. If just the smallest skritch of John’s magic rubs off on us, then we’ll be forever grateful."

CCR's "Fortunate Son" was released as a single together with "Down on the Corner" in 1969 and was a top 20 hit for the band. It has been used in scores of film and television projects, including Fox's American Dad and covered on series including Sons of Anarchy and Chuck.

"He'd never done anything like this before, so he didn't realize how many times he would have to do the song, from different angles, as we shot it," Stults told THR. And just one time after another he was bringing it. For me, it was like watching a concert."

The Finder premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. on Fox.
