Things might not have gone according to plan with Phil's "Express Christmas" plan on 'Modern Family' (Wed., 9PM ET on ABC), but there were plenty of laughs along the way. Plus, as the clan was separated to tackle different holiday-related tasks as fast as possible, it was surprising to see Hayley emerge as the most savvy and competent one.Her tactic of pretending to work for Target to secure an item someone else had already picked up was sheer genius. For everyone else, though, it was one mishap after another until finally they had to call it. This just wasn't going to happen.
Only Jay had one final trick up his sleeve. When he invited everyone out to Chinese instead, they opened the door to a guy blowing snow all over the front lawn. Sure, they were poolside earlier that day, but by the end it was a little piece of Christmas for the whole family.
