Argentina came from behind to secure a vital 2-1 win over Colombia on Tuesday in South American World Cup qualifying, thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
Dorlan Pabon smashed a shot off Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano to put Colombia ahead seconds before half-time. But the visitors came out better in the second half and Lionel Messi levelled the match after David Ospina spilled Jose Sosa's low cross in the 61st minute.
Substitute Sergio Aguero then came on to grab the winner in the 85th minute as Messi slid a ball to Gonzalo Higuain, whose shot was parried into th e City striker's path.
Man of the match Messi said: ''It was hard. We did not deserve to go one goal
behind to the opponents, as they were not better than us.
''We wanted to forget about the tie against Bolivia [1-1 draw on Friday]. That
was very hard for us and I think we did. Sometimes you can play better, and other times you have to fight harder. This game was one of those days.''
The win saw Argentina go joint-top of the table with seven points in four qualifiers. Colombia have four points from their three games.
Ecuador climbed into third in the table with a 2-0 win over Peru.
It took 70 minutes for the opening goal to arrive, from the boot of Edison Mendez. Christian Benitez then settled the game with a goal two minutes from time.
