After their longest season yet, it was down to a college a cappella group, a hip hop group and a group creating an electronic dance club sound on the season finale of 'The Sing-Off' (Mon., 8PM ET on NBC). It was amazing watching these three powerhouse groups through the season.
!!SPOILER ALERT!!
The Dartmouth Aires soared under the powerful lead vocals of Michael, while it took Urban Method a little while to find their strengths beyond their rap niche. Pentatonix struggled a bit with deciding how far to take their signature remixes. But all three groups excelled and impressed week after week.
In the finale, Urban Method was the first group sent packing, which lined up perfectly with our own informal poll conducted last week. Only 5.2% of you thought Urban Method should win. In fact, you got it completely right.
With 77.3% of your votes, Pentatonix won our poll, and then they turned around and won 'The Sing-Off.' It's impossible to argue this victory, as they blew us away with what they could accomplish with only five voices. They truly can take a cappella into "the future," as Ben Folds said.
But don't be said just yet, as 'The Sing-Off' has one more week in them. Next week, in the same time slot, we get 'The Sing-Off Christmas,' featuring the best groups from all three seasons of the unique series.
