NBC-Universal's Telemundo has announced plans for its first ever presidential debate as a part of its  “Decisión 2012" initiative.

Republican candidates will face off once again, just weeks before primary season, at a Las Vegas debate to be broadcast on the Spanish-language network.

The news comes shortly after five Republican candidates -- Mitt Romney, Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Jon Huntsman and Michele Bachmann -- all announced plans to boycott a Jan. 31 debate planned by Telemundo's embattled competitor, Univision.

Univision is currently fielding accusations it tried embarrass potential vice presidential candidate Marco Rubio, the junior U.S. Senator from Florida, by airing two days of coverage about his brother-in-law's 1987 drug arrest. This was reportedly in retaliation for Senator Rubio not agreeing to do a sit down interview with the network.

As for Teleundo, the early December debate will be broadcast in Spanish and hosted by Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart. Topics will focus on issues concerning the Hispanic community, such as immigration, the economy and health care.

NBC News, a production partner in the debate, may also rebroadcast the event at a different time on its other platforms.
