It was a night of tears -- and the occasional sob -- for the 'Dancing With the Stars' contestants this week as the celebs picked the most memorable years of their lives and chose songs from those years. And, boy, was it dramatic.

After last week's nip-slip seen 'round the world, Nancy Grace got all teary-eyed and sloppy this week -- and not in a good way. Okay, so it's pretty hard to spice up a 'Moon River' waltz, but it could have been a bit more exciting. At this point, Nancy's only saving grace might be her partner Tristan MacManus because, let's face it, he's obviously a fan favorite.

However, the standout performance and real tearjerker of the night came from Iraq war veteran and burn survivor J.R. Martinez, who shared his harrowing story for the first time on the show. After serving two months as an United States Army infantryman in Iraq, J.R. was badly injured when his Humvee hit a landmine. He slipped into a coma and had intense burns on over 40 percent of his body, lost most of the hair on his head and one of his ears. He spent over two years in the hospital recovering and had 33 surgeries to repair the damage to his skin.

But just when you thought that was as tear-jerky as it would get, J.R. decided to dedicate his somber yet emotionally moving rumba to all of the fallen heroes -- the ones that didn't get a second chance. Tim McGraw's 'If You're Reading This' has never felt more heartfelt.

Commence Carrie Ann crying in 3 ... 2 ... and cry she did. Of course bad cop Len had to find SOMETHING negative to say about the dance, which I believe deserved the first 10 of the season.

At the end of the dance, everyone was in tears, including J.R. and Karina -- and I can't lie, I may have sobbed over my laptop. Frankly, no one else could even think of competing with that.

Rob Kardashian opened the show with his very own heartfelt sob story, and he didn't do too bad. His foxtrot was pretty on point -- in fact, he's never looked better. I was just about to applaud for the kid ... until he asked the judges what 'Guys and Dolls' was, and then I just couldn't. I mean, really?! After all those years of preppy private school?! Blasphemy!

And then Chynna Phillips had to get all egotistical and dance to her own song, the 1990 hit 'Hold On.' I guess 1990 was a pretty good year for the singer. After all, 'Hold On' did win a Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year. I guess if you're going to choose a memorable song, it might as well be the track that solidified your place in pop culture relevance for the next three decades ('Bridesmaids,' anyone?).

David Arquette also brought his A-game this week, improving significantly from last week. This rumba just might have been his best dance yet. Maybe forgoing a shirt will help him win votes?

In the beginning, I was rooting for Chaz -- and not because of all of the negative controversy surrounding him -- but because, despite it all, he had spirit. He wasn't the best dancer, but he looked like he was having fun. But somehow, it looks like that spirit may be fleeting fast. Chaz and his partner Lacey Schwimmer are the most tense couple this season. Seriously, are either one of these two having any fun out there?! I think I have more chemistry with Chaz than Lacey seems to be able to muster these days.

Chaz does get points, however, for choosing a Sonny Bono song. (Sound the collective "awww" now). If Chaz has any hope for staying in this competition, he may need to rely on mama Cher to help him out. Where is she anyway?

Meanwhile, Kristin Cavallari thought she could be sneaky but we all saw her former fiance Jay Cutler in the audience watching his former flame shake her booty with hottie Mark Ballas. Does this mean they're not dunzo? Or is Jay just pulling a Courteney Cox and being a supportive ex? Seriously though, who else feels like Mark could shake it better than Kristin? And even though I was slightly disappointed Kristin didn't choose Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" (I mean, that song totally changed her life, and she knows it), Kristin and Mark pulled off a sexy samba.

In a surprise performance, Carson Kressley and his partner Anna Trebunskaya (how cute is she?!) pulled off their best dance yet: an eccentric tango to No Doubt. Seriously, the kicks, the hair flips and the glitter -- it was just perfection.

Also, Len's one-liners are getting better every week. Carson puts the "boy" in flamboyant (duh), and Rob puts the "dash" in Kardashian. Really, Len, how long have you been holding on to that one?

Other notable performances include Ricki Lake and Derek Hough's mesmerizing rumba (Sara Bareilles, really Ricki?). Ricki really played the melodramatic card this week, and frankly, it just feels forced after J.R.'s heartbreakingly raw performance. However, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Derek, you have been missed! Seriously, is anyone else bringing the choreography like Derek this season?

When it comes to who should start packing up their 'Dancing' gear, in my heart I want to say Chaz. He just lost his spark, and someone needs to put Lacey out of her misery. But my head wants to say Hope because I'm not sure if she has the fan base to support her 'Dancing' diva dreams for another week.

What do you think? Who should go home?

'Dancing With the Stars' airs Mondays at 8PM ET and Tuesdays at 9PM ET on ABC.
