Murray finished runner-up in the Thailand Open in 2005
British number one Andy Murray is through to the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open with a straight-sets victory over German Michael Berrer.
The 24-year-old top seed eased to a 6-4 6-2 win in an hour and 10 minutes.
Murray will face either Simone Bolelli or Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the semi-finals in Bangkok.
Second-seed Gael Monfils is also into the quarter-finals after beating Santiago Giraldo but defending champion Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is out.
The fourth-seeded Spaniard was stunned by American Donald Young, ranked 55 in the world, who won 6-1 6-7 (0-7) 7-5 in a match lasting more than two-and-a-half hours.

Frenchman Monfils lost the first set to Giraldo, but fought back to beat the Colombian 6-4 4-6 6-1.
Things were much more comfortable for Murray, playing his first match at an event in which he was runner-up to Roger Federer six years ago in his first ATP Tour final.
"I served well throughout," Murray said on www.atpworldtour.com. "But I'm still trying to overcome the jetlag a little bit, as I find it difficult travelling east.
"I started playing better in the second set, moving well."
Murray, chasing his third title of the season, looked solid in the opening set, never ceding even a break point as he comfortably sealed the opening set on the back of a lone break of his opponent.
World number 88 Berrer improved in the second set, forcing two break points only for Murray to best them both.
In contrast, when it mattered, the Scot converted two break point chances, enough to take the set and the match.
