Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is confident that Charles N'Zogbia will come good after an indifferent start to the season since his £9.5 million summer move from Wigan.
N'Zogbia, 25, was the Latics' star performer in 2010-11, scoring nine goals and contributing five assists as Roberto Martinez's side secured their Premier League safety on the final day.
The France international's sparkling form led to reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Sunderland and Newcastle over the summer, but it was Villa who secured his services in a big -money transfer.
N'Zogbia has flattered to deceive so far this season, though, and endured another difficult day against former club Newcastle in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
However, McLeish believes it will only be a matter of time before N'Zogbia shows the Villa Park faithful exactly what he is capable of.
"He's just got to find his top level in the last third," McLeish said. "He's getting into good positions. It's just that final ball and he'll be off and running.
"We've seen what he can do so we know he's got top quality. He's a proud guy as well and will keep working hard to get to his best."
