Alan Hutton has slammed Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp over his treatment before leaving White Hart Lane for Aston Villa in the summer.

Hutton, 26, joined Spurs in January 2008 but the Scotland international struggled to make an impression on Redknapp after he replaced the sacked Juande Ramos later that year.

He was loaned out to Sunderland for half of the 2008-09 season and made just 25 Premier League starts for Spurs in three seasons.

Hutton, an ever-present for Villa since his move to the Midlands, said: "The last time I spoke to Redknapp, he told me 'I don't want you to tr ain with us any more, I want you to train with the kids'.

"I don't think anybody should be treated like that. So many people there feel unwanted. I've never experienced anything like that anywhere I've been. Is that a good reputation? I don't know.

"At one stage there were five right-backs there - me, Kyle Naughton, Kyle Walker, Pascal Chimbonda and Vedran Corluka.

"In what first-team squad do you ever get that? It's usually two. I spent four months there doing nothing. It is a massive knock to your confidence.

"For me it was an unhappy place and I knew my time was up a while ago.''
