Thousands of people gathered near the Defense Ministry building on Saturday to demand the government speed up democratic reforms in the country.
At night, the demonstrators clashed with a group of government supporters, who threw stones at the crowd of people.
Police fired shots into the air to prevent the masses to impose their desire to enter the ministry building.
A few months after the February revolt that forced President Hosni Mubarak fell from power, the military council that took over the transition is often criticized for its slow political reform.
