World News - President Alvaro Colom came Peten province where 27 people were killed Monday.
The government alleges criminal genk called Los Zetas allegedly is behind this massacre. Two suspects were killed in the house, in the city of Santa Elana when they refused to arrest. So that was quoted by IOL, Tuesday (05/17/2011).
Colom is accompanied by the defense and interior ministers flew to a forest area in the province of Peten. The province can be regarded as a magnet for tourists, because there are archaeological sites and nature reserves.
Colom also eventually provide humanitarian assistance to the victims' families.
Armed forces and police conduct an investigation to search for evidence related to the massacre.
Minister of the country Carlos Menocal said that, the victims of the massacre are citizens Izabal originating from other provinces who are wandering and looking for work.
"We've settled that the victims were farmers who had nothing to do with medicine or criminal smugglers,"according to Menocal exposure on radio.
