Technology News - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) announced that cumulative sales of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) reached 50 million units worldwide since its launch the first time.
SCE also announced that the PlayStation Move beyond sales to 8 million units worldwide. Japanese company shows continued growth and momentum of the PS3 platform.
PS3 System, equipped with the proven technology of the future advanced including Cell Broadband Engine and RSX processors and Blu-ray disc player and HDMI, which has provided users with quality high-definition entertainment since its launch in November 2006. PS3 System continues to grow and improve the user experience through new features and services provided through software updates.
Along with the introduction of the PS3, SCE launched PlayStationNetwork service which now has more than 75 million registered accounts and operates in 59 countries and territories around the world.
PlayStation Network supports free online game-centric community and communication tools such as the PlayStation 3 Home, and offers an extensive digital content downloaded via the PlayStation Store, ranging from games to movies more than 32,840 content.
