World News - Libyan Crisis - The UN has reached an agreement with the Government of Libya to provide humanitarian aid to Libya.
Ban Ki Moon said the UN would set up humanitarian aid in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. However, the Libyan government spokesman Ibrahim Moussa, said the agreement also includes provision of humanitarian assistance in Misrata, the last bastion of opposition in western Libya.
Ibrahim said the government is ready to memgizinkan 300 thousand messengers of humanity into the city. The fighting that erupted two months ago, Libya has been split into areas controlled by Gaddafi west and east region controlled by the opposition with a front line almost every day goes in the middle of both regions.
"The agreement (with the UN) is to provide safe passage for brands who want to leave Misrata, provide aid, food and medicines," Abraham said as quoted by the Associated Press on Monday (4/18/2011).
Ibrahim also said the agreement also calls for free access for international aid and ensure electricity, water and other services available in Misrata. Misrata residents say supplies disrupted by the war.
In a press conference in Budapest, Hungary, said a deal with Gaddafi's government approved on Sunday, April 17 by a special envoy to Libya and the UN humanitarian aid chief, Valerie Amos.
Amos, who was in Benghazi said, had received assurances from the authority of the Government of the United Nations bajwa Gaddafi will be allowed to enter Misrata.
"What I want is to get access to Misrata, not only by sea, but also by land. We only have a little information about what happened there, "said Amos.
Meanwhile, Ban said the UN is ready to provide assistance in the opposition stronghold in Benghazi. But he added, the basic needs for tens of thousands of people in Libya can not be fulfilled.
