Melbourne Victory have announced the appointment of former Brisbane Roar and
South Melbourne coach Ange Postecoglou on a three-year contract.
Postecoglou, 46, resigned from his role as Brisbane head coach on Tuesday, two
days after guiding the club to their second successive A-League title.
Greek-born Postecoglou had been widely tipped to return to hometown Melbourne
on a permanent basis after spending the past three years juggling his time
between Queensland and Victoria, where his family remain.
The post of Victory coach has been vacant following the departure of
caretaker-boss Jim Magilton. The club finished a disappointing eighth in the
standings last season.
Postecoglou is a former Australia international defender who won National
Soccer League titles as a player and coach with South Melbourne and spent seven
years in charge of Australia's Under-20 side.
He began his tenure in charge of Brisbane in October 2009, when he replaced
Frank Farina.
