Chilean side Union Espanola and Atletico Nacional of Colombia made booked their
places in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
Union beat Bolivar of Bolivia 2-1 and moved clear at the top of Group Three on
10 points, three more than their opponents, with only one matchday
remaining.
Braulio Leal headed the ball into the back of the net after a corner kick to
put Jose-Luis Sierra's Union side ahead in the 18th minute.
It was not until the 66th minute that the home team doubled the gap, as
Sebastian Jaime headed the ball and Emanuel Herrera only had to touch it into
the empty net.
Seven minutes before the final whistle, Ever Cantero reduced the deficit with
another header.
''We are very, very happy to have qualified. This is a big effort by this team.
We totally deserve this,'' Luna told Fox Sports.
''Now it's time to focus on the league as we must keep winning.''
Nacional, meanwhile, hammered Uruguayan side Penarol 3-0 at home and went to
the top of Group Eight.
Nacional went ahead thanks to a seventh-minute goal by Oscar Murillo and
striker Dorlan Pabon doubled the lead seconds before half-time with a tremendous
free-kick.
Diego Alvarez consolidated the win by connecting with Alejandro Bernal's on the
hour.
Nacional reached top the group on 11 points, one more than Universidad de Chile
and six above Argentina's Godoy Cruz.
In Venezuela, Argentinian side Arsenal claimed a 1-0 away win at Zamora.
A sole goal by Juan-Pablo Caffa in the 29th minute was enough to help Arsenal
remain alive in the tournament.
Arsenal are third in Group Four on six points, one below Boca Juniors and six
behind already-qualified Fluminense.
Finally in Ecuador, Deportivo Quito beat Uruguay's Defensor Sporting 2-0 thanks
to goals from Luis Checa and Julio-Maximiliano Bevacqua.
Defensor defender Federico Pintos was sent off.
Deportivo Quito must beat Mexico's Guadalajara next week if they are to reach
the last 16.
