AC Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel has confirmed he is considering a return to PSV this summer, though his agent claimed he will not move to the Philips Stadion if Louis van Gaal is appointed manager.

Van Bommel's future at the San Siro is unclear after Milan revealed they would not renew the contracts of their ageing stars until after the season.

While the Netherlands international would like to remain with the Rossoneri, a return to PSV - where he played six seasons before leaving in 2005 - is a realistic alternative.

"I have got several options, but for me ther e are just two serious options - AC Milan and PSV,'' Van Bommel told NOS. "How big the chance is that I return to PSV? There is a chance, yes.''

The 34-year-old's agent, Mino Raiola, has already stated that the would accept a pay-cut to return to his homeland.

However, Raiola warned that any negotiations would be called off should PSV appoint Louis van Gaal as manager following his falling out with Van Bommel while they were at Bayern Munich.

"[PSV technical director] Marcel [Brands] has effectively confirmed the appointment of Louis van Gaal, albeit not in not in so many words,'' Raiola said. "He knows that a transfer will be impossible for Mark if Van Gaal is coach.''
