Tuck had two of New York's five sacks against Brady in the title game four years ago when the Giants spoiled New England's bid at becoming the first National Football League (NFL) team to complete a season with a 19-0 record.

"You can look at (that game) and say that was pretty much the reason why we won it, because we kind of kept him off rhythm," Tuck told reporters on Friday.

Brady was 29-of-48 for 266 yards with one touchdown pass in the Super Bowl defeat after completing a record 50 scoring throws during the regular season.

"He is the main reason why they're successful, him and (coach Bill) Belichick, those minds together," said Tuck, New York's defensive captain.

"The way to kill a snake is take off his head. And the way to kill an offense as potent as that one is make sure you take care of Brady."

Tuck is supremely confident in New York's pass rush, which also features Osi Umenyiora and second-year sensation Jason Pierre-Paul, but he concedes that containing Brady presents a supreme challenge.

"Brady makes it difficult to get to him. We feel we can play with just about any line in this country given the time. But he does a great job of getting the ball out of his hand," Tuck said about the two-time Super Bowl most valuable player.

Tuck said other elements weigh in, such as the defensive backs' ability to slow down New England receivers, and disguised rushes used by the New York defense.

"Like re-route their receivers, try to confuse him (Brady) a little bit, that goes back to that game of chess," said Tuck. "If we're able to do that it gives our rush a little more time to get after him."

All that said, Tuck goes into the game full of respect for Brady, a three-time Super Bowl champions and seven-time Pro Bowl selection.

"Brady is a tough guy. I said after the Super Bowl that he's the first quarterback I truly respected as far as toughness. We hit him a lot in that football game but he stayed in there," said Tuck.

"No one had hit him like that all year. I think it was a surprise to him. He was frustrated at his O-line, but I don't think it rattled him. The guy's a pretty good football player."
