Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has been ruled out of action for up to six
weeks with a spinal injury, the club have revealed.

The injury ruled Schwarzer out of Fulham's vital Europa League Group K
clash with Odense at Craven Cottage. The 39-year-old was expected to be replaced by Philippines international Neil Etheridge, making his first-team debut aged 21.

Etheridge began his career with SW6 rivals Chelsea and penned a contract
extension with Fulham until 2013 in the summer.

A statement on the Fulham website read: "During the match against Swansea on Saturday 10 December, Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer injured his neck.

"Following an assessment by a specialist consultant on Tuesday evening, the Club can confirm that he has sustained a compression injury to his thoracic spine and that he will be unavailable for 4 to 6 weeks, and is expected to return to play towards the end of January.

"The Club has exercised a clause in the loan contract of David Stockdale, and he has been recalled from Ipswich Town to join the squad."
