Football News : Leonardo gives PSG coach vote of confidence

Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo insists coach Antoine Kombouare
continues to have the full backing of the club despite Sunday's 1-0 defeat to
Nancy.

Jean Calve's strike early in the second half settled the contest at the Parc
des Princes, although PSG remain at the top of Ligue 1 ahead of Montpellier on
goal difference.

The defeat followed another week of speculation over the future of Kombouare
after Leonardo was spotted in Paris talking to former Chelsea and AC Milan coach
Carlo Ancelotti.

The Brazilian was quick to deny reports the club were lining up a move for
Ancelotti after the meeting, and in an interview with L'Equipe he reiterated his
support for PSG's current boss.

"There has been a lot said about Kombouare,'' he said. "But the squad knows
what is going on. The situation has never changed and it's not going to.

"Kombouare has the full confidence of the club and we will continue to work
together. He is the coach, nothing has changed.

"We only started that work four months ago and a lot of positive things have
already happened. We're improving, it's part of the game.''

Leonardo was also philosophical about the defeat to Nancy.

"It is a defeat and it is not the first,'' he said.
"When you lose at home, it's always a little sad. But that's part of the game
and there were some very positive things.''
