Desperate Housewives Ricardo Chavira Teri Hatcher Episodic 2011

On Sunday’s episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, the men were under scrutiny. In the end, true colors showed and the women may have made new enemies of their former lovers.

Two major things happened that could endanger the women in their cover up of Gaby’s (Eva Longoria) stepfather’s murder. Sure, the fact that Chuck (Jonathan Cake) was going to ask Bree to marry him was a pretty predictable storyline. What wasn’t predictable was the way that he reacted when she broke up with him.

Basically, we learned in the last episode that Chuck may have written the letter. With that in mind, Gaby suggested that Bree (Marcia Cross) snoop around to find out what he knows. She discovered a picture of her hand and an envelope with her name on it in his briefcase. Everyone knows where that was going to lead – except apparently Bree and Gaby. After close to an hour of pretending I didn’t know that Chuck was proposing, I did like what came after.

Bree put aside the cover up and simply decided she didn’t want to spend her life with Chuck. She ended up breaking up with him and what surprised me was how badly he took it. I could literally see the venom building in him. He then told her that if she was ever in trouble, he wouldn’t help her. So when the cover up is about to come to light (and it will), I expect to see Chuck again.

Speaking of exposing… Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) told Mike (James Denton) about the murder. They had to, because he believed she was cheating on him with Carlos. There was a moment where they were hiding from Mike in a van and they came very close to kissing. I thought that was well done and I thought it was great that the writers didn’t have them go through with it. That helps me forgive them for the whole predictable proposal storyline with Bree. Now the question is how will Mike take the news?

In other news:

Lynette’s (Felicity Huffman) sister, Lydia (Sarah Paulson) got her life together. That doesn’t sit well with Lynette whose life is falling apart. So, she tries to pick apart her sister’s new fiancé and successfully pushes the right buttons. He sees Lydia going off on Lynette and it brings up all kinds of bad family memories for him. Lynette goes and fixes it with him. In the meantime, she makes an important discovery about herself and her need to control those around her. She admits that’s what sent Tom (Doug Savant) packing.

Renee (Vanessa Williams) gets a little too close to Lee’s (Kevin Rahm) adopted daughter. Before I go into that storyline. Does anyone else think the writers should have included Renee in the cover up? I just hate seeing her sidelined with these sort of inconsequential storylines. Anyway, Lee is uncomfortable with buying his daughter a bra. So, he asked Renee if she would do it. She hits it off with Renee and Lee begins to get jealous and angry about the time they’re spending together. He worries if his daughter is missing something. Renee convinces him that he’s doing a good job.
