Fabregas, 24, has been in impressive form since finally swapping Arsenal for Barca this summer, with the La Masia graduate scoring four goals in seven games - inlcuding one in the Catalans' 8-0 thrashing of Osasuna on Saturday.

With Andres Iniesta sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury, Fabregas is likely to be mo re heavily involved in the coming weeks and Alves feels the midfielder's excellent understading with Lionel Messi, in particular, will stand Pep Guardiola's side in good stead.

"Fabregas has been doing a great job for us and has already made a huge contribution to the team," Dani Alves told AS.

"It really is an honour to play alongside him. Him and Lionel Messi are a great duo on the pitch, and they have a great connection."

Barcelona are currently third in the Primera Division table behind Valencia and Real Betis, having picked up two wins and a draw from their opening three fixtures.
