World News - German Defence Minister Thomas de Maziere denounced the controversial NATO military operations in Libya. According to him, planning the whole NATO mission in the North African country's short-sighted.

Talk to the weekly news magazine based in Hamburg, Der Spiegel, the minister whose country is not part of the Western military alliance war in Libya, it said that the planning of the entire NATO mission in the North African country's short-sighted.

"Of course, when you start something, you always have to know, how long you can sweat it out," said de Maziere quoted as saying by the magazine.

Germany is under intense pressure by an important ally of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) - particularly the United States, France and Britain - to join the military mission.

According to de Maziere, the U.S. once again asked for German military assistance to operations in Libya during the NATO meeting earlier this month, which was rejected by Berlin.

Germany abstained in the voting at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in March for the use of military force to protect civilians in Libya, which sparked outrage countries other NATO members.

Meanwhile, de Maziere said it was also "very unlikely" his country would take part in peacekeeping missions in Libya even after the fall of the Gaddafi regime.

Political observers in Berlin believe that the latest statement of de Maziere it will only further antagonize Washington and deepening differences within NATO, the political and military role in the future is now seriously at stake.
