Fidel Castro resigns from the Communist Party of Cuba

World News - Fidel Castro make sure he has resigned from the top leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba today. This assurance is obtained from an article released today.

"Raul (Fidel Castro's younger brother) knows I will not accept a formal role in the party again today," Castro said in the article published Cubadebate.cu, as quoted by AFP on Tuesday (19/04/2011).

Castro's statement is also a reference to the absence of herself and her sister at the time of the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee took place and choosing its members on Monday, April 18.

Castro continue to serve as principal secretary in the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee since the party was first formed in 1965 ago. The position of principal secretary in the party is a marker of Castro's rule in Cuba.

Cuban revolutionary leader is now rarely showed himself in public. The news about her illness continued to spread, despite the 84-year-old man was near, the public, for the sake of showing he was still healthy.

On July 31, 2006, Fidel Castro delegated his authority as President of Cuba to his brother Raul Castro. Currently rumored transfer of power is only temporary. But lately, it seems clear that Castro had let go of its influence in the Government of Cuba.

During his reign, Castro always opposed to the west particularly the United States (U.S.).
This hard attitude led to the Cuban embargo imposed by the U.S.. Embargo has caused Cuba's economy collapsed and many people who live in poverty.
